The 1.2 litre engine costs just £5,995 and falls in insurance group 2 making it easy to insure for first time buyers. The top speed is 97mph with 0-60mph time of 14.5 seconds.

10- Peugeot 208
Peugeot 208 rounds up our list with the 1.0 litre engine setting back £9,995. The top speed is 101mph with 0-60mph time of 14.0 seconds. It falls in group 5 for insurance.
