The Audi A7 has been designed to rival the Mercedes-Benz CLS which is a stylish four-door Coupe. Its DNA is taken from Audi that’s why it is very similar to the rest of the cars. Audi is also putting all its efforts to make this car more appealing and desirable in order to give a tough time to Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupe.
The A7 was first unveiled in 2010 as a five-door fastback and has received a mid-life refresh in 2014. The second generation has received a green signal from Audi designing head, Marc Lichte. All new A7 is set to be launched sometimes in 2017 or 2018. The second generation A7 will get a totally new design and extraradical styling to appeal the Audi customers.
Currently, the A7 uses a triple charged high-performance diesel engine but for the 2018 A7, it will receive a massive revision. It is expected that the new A7 will get a twin-turbocharged V6 diesel engine with electrical turbochargers. This engine will offer a lag free traction and acceleration attributes. It is mentioned that the new Audi A7 engine will generate a power punch of 385horsepower and a hefty torque of 553lb-ft. The RS5 TDI will also use the same power unit.
Modular Longitudinal Matrix or MLB Evolution structure will be used in making the new A7 to keep the weight as less as possible.
The designing head of Audi said that they are introducing some features from Audi prologue concept to make it more eye-catching and unique and to apparently give the A7 its own visual identity. He also added that, Audi engineers are giving some extra time to A7 that will make it more different and distinct from other Audi models even from first-generation A7, S7 and RS7. All new A7 is expected to hit the showrooms in 2018.
