Audi A6 Executive Facelifted

The updated Audi A6 has been showcased at the Paris Motor Show, with Allroad and saloon models on display. This mid-life refresh features retunes to the exterior, transmissions and infotainment system and engine-line up. These improvements have been applied across Audi’s executive line-up, in saloon and Avant estate body styles as well as S6 and RS6 models.

The exterior has been redesigned as well with new headlights, tweaked front and rear bumper, renovated Audi signature single-frame grille, updated rear lights and new exhaust tailpipes. Audi’s latest LED and Matrix LED technology combined with dynamic indicators is on the options list to spice up the headlights.

The major change to the interior is the introduction of an updated infotainment system. Audi has partnered with Nvidia to introduce a new technology for its navigation system. You can use online services including media streaming apps. The interior has been given two new colours as well; Flint Grey for standard A6 models and Salsa Red for the S6.

An updated driver assistance system is also available on the refreshed A6; including adaptive cruise control with a stop and go function. Audi Pre Sense basic safety system is now standard across the range. There is an optional head-up display to show this information as well.

Only a diesel engine is available on standard models with four and six-cylinder, single-turbo TDI diesels and a V6 BiTDI, but most of these engines get power boosts and efficiency improvements. Audi will drop its hybrid from the UK line up whereas the A6 Allroad will continue to feature in the current range. The S6, S6 Avant and RS6 still use V8 petrol engines with Cylinder-on-Demand technology.

There will be no change in the price, so the A6 saloon introduced at the Paris Motor Show will start from just under £31,000 and the A6 Avant will be £2,000 more with first deliveries expected to start at the end of 2014.
