BMW has confirmed that later this year, when the face-lifted 3 Series will go on sale, they will introduce a new 320d ED Sport model, rigged with high-spec Sport model kit and most efficient diesel engines from BMW.
As per what the insider has told, this new Sport model will be mated with 3 Series diesel engine, famous for being most economical, then it has sporty styling, body-hugging seats, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Despite of all these sporty features, it still will manage to return more than 70mph and will emit just 103g/km of CO2.
It has also been learnt that BMW is planning on offering manual and automatic options in 320d ED, where it is also believed that the manual will be emitting slightly more CO2 as compared to the automatic.
These EfficientDynamics diesel engines are especially engineered for optimum fuel economy and to keep the running costs at lowest possible level. 99g/km of CO2 emissions can be obtained with this Facelifted version, only if one use the smaller alloy wheels and energy-saving low rolling resistance tyres.
“The company had no such plans at this time,” said the insider when asked about same treatment to be given to 1 or 5 Series range. Though you may never know, if the 320d ED Sport manages to get the huge success, the copycat variants may arrive later on.
Yes! It is possible. The 3 Series range already hasSport trim available on it, but for the buyers of non-ED models need to shell out around £300 over their basic SE to enjoy this spec.
Sat-nav, DAB radio and eCall are coming in as standard on all new BMW’s, whereas the Sport models will be getting the high gloss black trim, black exhaust pipes, and bigger wheels. On the Sport models, the buyers will be getting the sports seats, contrasting red stitching throughout and leather sports steering wheel.
Well, all those cars without the optional adaptive dampers, they will be able to enjoy the sportier driving experience with the adaptive throttle and steering response on Sport and Sport+ modes. The suspension settings will not be affected with it at all.
It is expected that the 320d ED Sport will be put on sale later this year with a starting price of around £31,000.
