Hyundai has finally decided to focus upmarket in the UK with a new generation of Genesis executive car, set to go on sale in April this year. It was introduced in US a while ago and will be aiming to rival some very set models in the market like Jaguar XF and BMW 5 Series in the UK. It will be offeredinlimitednumbers in UK and prices are expected to start from £47,995.
Korean car manufacturer’s spokesperson has told media that Hyundai will sell a limited number of Genesis from selected dealers in UK. About £50k amount will get you a 3.8 litre V6 petrol engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive configuration. It reaches to 62 mph mark in 6.8 seconds and returns fuel economy of 24.4mpg. Hyundai said that this is the only engine option offered worldwide to show the Hyundai’s plans towards selling limited number of Genesis executive cars. You might have diesel options to enjoy hefty torque rates.
New Hyundai Genesis offers a standard kit of equipment that includes an 8-inch touchscreen for infotainment system, fine grain leather trims for interior, adaptive cruise control system, automatic emergency braking system and world’s first ever interior with CO2 sensors to inform the drivers about oxygen levels inside the cabin. It also offers four cameras to give 360-degree view of the car. A rear traffic alert control system and a blind spot protection system has been introduced. On the top of all these features, there is a head-up display offered inside the cabin. It offers Xenon headlamps with high beam assist and an automatic smart boot. It offers a choice of seven exterior colours.
Alongside the Genesis announcement, Hyundai has outlined five years growth targets. There are several others to come including an i20 Coupe and hot i30 Turbo, and several facelifts across the range. Genesis will make its public debut from the dealership network of Hyundai, including the virtual dealership, one of the world’s first virtual dealerships.
