The Goodwood Festival of Speed kicks off on June 26th and it is shaping up to be an amazing exhibition of everything about cars. Whether it’s hill climbing in a digital version of the GTI Roadster or the Q50 Eau Rouge clearing its V6, the most exciting news is that Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations will be launching a new model during the festival.
The British maker will be showcasing some sleek sexiness. So we can be rest assured that it won’t be oddly named and obnoxiously expensive. The details are very few as of now but we know Jag spread metallic awesomeness in the last years with the likes of Project 7. If we take a guess then Jaguar Special Operations will reveal one of the six lightweight E-Types that the department is putting together.
Lamborghini’s special division is known as the Ad Personam, Ferrari has its Special Projects division and Porsche has its Exclusive program. It was only a matter of time before Jaguar launched its own Special Operations and its first project is building the six leftover lightweight E-Types from 1963 – quite a first project to undertake. We suspect that this project will be launched by the Big Cat at the festival.
The new division is run by John Edwards, former brand director of Land Rover, and will have four sub divisions, concentrating on special vehicles, personalisation, heritage and branded goods. John Edwards said: “We’re focused on enhancing and personalizing our relationship with our most discerning and enthusiastic customers, delivering experiences our customers will love for life.”
