Nürburgring Nordschleife has gained popularity these days as an infamous track to set new world record for the fastest road cars. Last year Porsche heavily publicised their 6:57 lap record in the 918 and then came the McLaren P1 which also managed less than seven minutes.

Koenigsegg, the Swedish hyper car manufacturer is about to make a serious attempt with its Agera R and One:1 to break Porsche’s record and they are pretty confident of posting better times. As far as the One:1 is concerned, the insiders are extremely confident of taking a big chunk out of 918’s time.

The auto maker is planning on setting a record in early 2015, first using the Agera R and then the much lighter and even quicker One:1. The Agera R is powered by a 1124 hp twin-turbocharged V8 engine. In the test run, Agera R has already reached 250 mph so it is hoped that the One:1 will do even better.

One:1 on the other hand, is powered by a 1341 hp engine and runs on E85 ethanol. The company chairman and founder Christian von Koenigsegg is fairly confident that setting up this record will take the company to a whole new level.

Christian also said that they are planning to put their car on the scales so that anyone could come and inspect their car, fuel, tyres etc. The company is planning to let Serwanski drive the cars when they go for the record run. Serwanski is very excited about it and said that he has been fast enough to do the job right, but if in case he can’t then they definitely would bring in a specialist driver. The real lap time has not been thought of yet but it is thought that 6.30 seconds is a realistic target.
