The auto world has been dominated by the Germans for some time and every Bavarian auto manufacturer produce a unique marvel, but sometimes they do follow each other’s lead. Mercedes-Benz announced in March the plan to build a pickup truck.
It was expected that any of its rivals would also come forward and soon we’ll hear about another mighty truck. But to the utmost surprise, one of the major competitors turned down the possibility of producing trucks.
It is no other than the BMW. Yes! Executive Hendrik von Kuenheim stated that there’s absolutely no way the German auto maker will be ever building a pickup truck. According to von Kuenheim this kind of vehicle just simply would not fit to BMW’s genes and culture.
For decades, BMW has stayed in the luxury segment without introducing a single body-on-frame pickup truck and doing it now is still not a plan. Despite the fact that other manufacturers are trying new options: Hyundai is selling a luxury saloon and Lamborghini is going to build an SUV.
BMW doesn’t have the experience in the commercial segment like Mercedes which has a vast experience in trucks. Every single step taken by Mercedes has increased its good reputation even more.
Now a days, car manufacturers are expanding beyond their comfort zones to provide customers what they need but BMW is sticking with what it knows best.
